Rezoning Meeting

There will be a meeting regarding the rezoning proposal for the following properties: 1739, 1745, 1755 S. National, 1141 E Sunshine, and 1138 University St. The proposal is to rezone these properties from Residential – Single Family to General Retail.  

The meeting will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 925 E Seminole St. Springfield, MO 65807.

This meeting is a required as part of the application process for rezoning. 

If you attend the meeting, please fill out a written comment card so the developer and council member staff know what you think.

If you are not able to attend the meeting, you can email comments to zoning@springfieldmo.gov.

Please include your name, address, and telephone number as well as the address of the project in your correspondence.

4th of July Parade

July 4, 2022

10 am

Location: Meet at the corner of Holland and Stanford, participants will walk around the block. This is very informal!

Dust off your best patriotic finery and get ready to decorate your favorite conveyance (or critter) for our annual celebration. After the parade, stick around for frozen confections and if you’re game, a water balloon battle!

Artistree Pottery Night

Grab the kids and join your neighbors for a creative evening out at Artistree Pottery. Cost is based on which piece or pieces you choose to create.

Canceled – Bennett Street Clean-up

Due to the forecasted heat advisory until Wednesday evening, UHNA is canceling this event and will reschedule it in the future.

Grab the family and meet us at the wading pool for some sweet treats from Jack’s Ice Cream Truck before seeing how much litter we can pick up. Trash bags will be provided, but city waivers must be signed prior to the cleanup. See the Facebook event or the following link for more details.

Purple Burrito Day for UHNA

Join us at Purple Burrito #1 as they celebrate their 13th anniversary at the Campbell location on June 8th from 11:00am – 6:00pm.

Some of the proceeds will benefit the University Heights Neighborhood Association.

Call To Action – May 15

We are looking for volunteers to help with the May neighborhood clean-up event on May 15, 2021 at the Springfield Art Museum. We need volunteers to unload items at the drop off site and we need volunteers to take trucks to neighbors and help load up items and deliver to the drop off site.

We also need volunteers to pick up trash for the Adopt-A-Street clean-up at 9:00 AM along Brookside and other streets in the neighborhood.

Road Work and Closures

Road Closures Near Springfield Art Museum

Brookside Drive between Kings and Green avenues will be closed April 7 through spring 2022. Access to the Perry Tennis Courts will remain open. Additional details can be found here.
