University Heights Neighborhood Association is committed to enhancing the lives of people living in the beautiful, historic University Heights (UH) neighborhood. Much has changed in Springfield over the past 100 years the neighborhood has existed, but surprisingly little has changed in the neighborhood. University Heights remains a tree lined, quiet, almost yester-year enclave in a city that has grown increasingly populated by people and business. It is still a place where get togethers are hosted on lawns and driveways, annual Fourth of July parties take place, and neighbors get together for coffee and neighborhood clean ups.
Many things affect the quality of life in any neighborhood: the care and maintenance of properties, how involved people are in neighborhood programs, changes in perimeter roadways, requests for zoning changes in a neighborhood's vicinity or within it's borders, City utility improvements, and to what extent people adhere to City codes designed to keep people safe and neighborhoods healthy.
Each month our UHNA Newsletter will address a public policy topic. Follow the Newsletter's link to this page for more information on the topic, and to access other public policy posts in our archives.
